How to write a strong CV as a marketing manager

Concrete, no clichés — what works with recruiters.

Funnel numbers are the currency

Recruiters for (senior) marketing roles are looking for one thing: can you measurably improve the funnel. Put hard numbers in every bullet: CAC, MQL-to-SQL conversion, pipeline generated, ROAS, ARR added. "Responsible for marketing strategy" is word noise; "Reduced CAC from £1,420 to £880 in 18 months" is an interview trigger.

Channel mix + tool stack explicit

Mention concrete channels (LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, retargeting, ABM, content, partnerships) and the tools you actually use day-to-day (HubSpot, Salesforce, Marketo, GA4, Looker). Vague "marketing automation" without a tool name is a red flag — UK recruiters will assume you know it only on paper.

Team and stakeholder leadership

For senior roles, whether you can build and lead a team matters. "Manager of 3 specialists" is stronger than "collaborated with team". Mention exactly who you manage (roles and headcount), and as a bonus: achievements of those team members ("all three exceeds expectations").
