How to write a strong CV as a hr manager

Concrete, no clichés — what works with recruiters.

Scope: headcount and sector first

HR recruiters at British Airways, BT, AstraZeneca and Aviva screen immediately on organisation size (50? 500? 5,000?) and sector-specific employment frameworks. Put the scope on line 1: "HR Manager for UK organisation of 180 FTE" beats "Experienced HR professional".

Tooling — Workday is the green flag

Workday, SuccessFactors, BambooHR, Greenhouse, Lever, Personio — state which tools you actively manage. For enterprise roles (Lloyds, BT, NHS) Workday experience is often a filter. Avoid vague "HRIS experience".

Measurable HR impact carries weight

Turnover reduced, time-to-hire reduced, eNPS up, sickness absence below sector average — every data point counts. "Reduced employee turnover from 18% to 11% over 18 months" is an interview trigger.
